Native to North America. Iris setosa is suitable to be grown in the garden border, on the sunny edge of a woodland garden, or can be grown in a bog garden. In mild temperate areas, the leaves are evergreen, (surviving the winter). But it is best to tidy up the plant and trim the leaves back before the winter, then in spring, new leaves will emerge.
