The Story

Alpine Milkvetch is native to North America, occurring from Alaska to Newfoundland, and as far south as Nevada and New Mexico. It is a mat forming perennial herb with blue or purple flowers. 

This plant grows in a variety of soils and locations including moist woodlands and meadows around streams and lakes, and cold, dry, exposed areas including gravel bars and scree.

In nature this plant species provides food for caribou, Arctic hares, greater snow geese, small blue butterflies, and grizzly bears.

Type: Hardy perennial
